White Layer Cake

1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, creamed well together; add 1 cup milk, then 2 heaping cups of flour, beat well, then add the whites of 8 eggs, well beaten.  After adding eggs add another heap. cup flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder. Then the flavoring. Beat as little as possible after the eggs and baking powder have been added.
 
 

Chocolate filling

2 cups sugar
1 small cup chocolate
1/2 cup sweet milk
butter the size of an egg
Let boil until it begins to thicken.  Flavor with vanilla.
 
 

Caramel Filling

1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups fresh milk
Put all in a sauce pan stirring constantly, and cook until it candies.  Remove from fire and beat until thick enough to spread.
