Natchez Trace ParkwayNear Grindstone FordI found this cemetery near the trail from the parking lot going to Grindstone Ford. Several of the stones were broken and the lettering was washed away on some of them. I have received further information from a descendant of the Burnet family. They have older records obtained when the stones were in better condition. I will attempt to indicate their information with an asterisk. Grindstone Ford was the location of a mill and stand (or outpost) which was located between Choctaw Territory and the established Settlements. A post office was there at one time as well. Colonel Daniel Burnet (11 Jul 1763 - 7 May 1827) lived here. He was a Mississippi state senator and negotiator appointed by the U. S. Government in 1818. He was responsible for negotiations with the Choctaw Indians of the region. His grave is one of those in this cemetery.* The first stone is very hard to read, and I could not be sure of the names. I have received further information on this grave from the family descendant) SARAH* Jane Florence Mary Emma Jennie (This is a broken stone) In Memory of (This is an unreadable stone) John & Jarret Mrs. Nancy Eddins Here are some additional stones which I did not see.
