THE FOLLOWING IS A LETTER THAT IS WRITTEN IN PENCIL ON LINED
PAPER. IT IS WRITTEN TO LOTTIE DANIEL
Dear Lottie:
Please accept this little gift with my best love. I am so glad you have remained in school until you completed the High School work. You will appreciate it more as the years pass. I hope you may be more fortunate than I and have opportunity of more advanced work, but should it not come, you can at least have the satisfaction of knowing that you have a good foundation for self culture. you have learned how to study and to appreciate beauty in literature and the whole world of books is open to you.
I have a very happy memory of the days when you were an excellent pupil in my class, and am proud of you today. I am wishing you the best life offers.
Your cousin
Grace Melear.
In the 1920 census she is shown as a cashier in a retail business. (Information provided by James Daniel) She was listed by mistake as the wife in her mother's household.
Her niece fondly remembers the Life Saver candies she always brought when she came for a visit, and the children's board game she always played with her when asked!
Her address was 2936 Edmond Ave., Waco after the family home which had belonged to her mother was sold.

Death Certificate:
She was Mrs. Lottie Strong, born 1 Nov 1895 in Texas, died 29 Mar 1953 at Hillcrest Hospital, Waco, McLennan, Texas. Her usual address was 2936 Edmund. She was a widow. Her usual occupation was housewife at home. Her father was Jim K. Daniels, and her mother was Betty Shouks. Mrs. J. F. Williams was the informant. The immediate cause of death was cerebral vascular accident lasting one hour, due to arteriosclerotic vascular disease. Other significant disease contributing to her death was acute gastritis.
