Announcement has never appeared in the papers of the marriage on July 7, in Marlin of Miss Lula Mae Shanks of Mart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Shanks, to Mr. D. M. Compton of Valley Mills.The cerenomp [sic] was performed by Rev. F. B. Thorne, and for several reasons the young couple preferred that the wedding be not announced until after they secured schools that they might teach this fall and winter. They are justly proud of each other, and manp [sic] of their friends will be surprised to know that they are married. They have the best wishes of a large circle of friends in their home towns.They departed from Mart Thursday for their schools.--- Mrs. Compton going to Waco to teach in the Methodist Orpahn's Home, and Mr. Compton to Eden, Texas to teach in the public school in that place.

The marriage was performed by Rev. F. B. Thorne. It was kept secret until September because they wanted to secure teaching positions before they made the marriage known. Lula Mae secured a teaching position at the Methodist Orphan's Home in Waco, and her husband secured a job teaching in the public school in Eden, Texas.

On his death certificate, his father was listed as Frank L. Compton, but there was no record of his mother. The informant was Mrs. D. M. Compton (wife). His death took place at 310 S.
