His first wife appears to have been named Nancy Sexton. More research needed. There are listings in the Cool Springs cemetery information that include Nancy wife of G E TURNER aged 21 years and Ida wife of G E TURNER aged 24 years. The 1910 census shows him with two marriages, not three. However, there has been mentioned a marriage date of 30 May 1902 for a marriage between Gailous and Nancy Sexton (Ancestry.com, OneWorldTree), and such a late date would indicate the possibility of a previous marriage. However, he was unmarried and not a widower in 1900. More research needed. There is a son named Herman, aged 17 (that would indicate a birthdate of about 1903) shown as his son on the 1920 census. He was 17 years of age. Could this be Nancy's son? More research needed. Could Nancy have died in childbirth? Just one possibility to be researched. There is a grandson named Oscar H. Turner aged 8 living in the Daniel D. Sexton household in 1910. This is probably Herman. (HeritageQuest, census 1910, DANIELSVILLE, CRENSHAW, ALABAMA, Series: T624 Roll: 9 Page: 16). In 1900, there is Nancy Sexton living with Daniel and Louiza Sexton and their family. She was born in Jan 1881, aged 19 years. Herman was born about 2 or 3 years later. That would make Nancy about 21 years of age at the time of the child's birth. Since Nancy, wife of G. E. Turner died at 21 years of age, it would be possible that she died in childbirth, and this is actually the correct Nancy, wife of Gailous. There is also some information that indicates she might have died a few months later (OneWorldTree). The tombstone does not give the date of her death. (HeritageQuest, census 1900, Enum. Dist. 42, 2-PCT, CRENSHAW, ALABAMA, Series: T623 Roll: 11 Page: 31) Now who was his wife Ida? And why does the 1910 census just mention two marriages if he was married to someone named Ida as well? He is said to have had a store at their home between Honoraville and Cool Spring. (Pamela Byrd, e-mail, 23 Apr 2006, 10:22 PM) Census: 1910, Enum.
