Shared note

There is a sketch of his career on p. 172, book unknown but the pages are headed "Biographical Sketches of Prominent Baptists". It says he was the 7th son of Francis and Delana T. Daniel, who also had 3 daughters. His mother died when he was 9. Straitened circumstances precluded education, and at the age of 18 he could hardly read. Then went to "an academy in the neighborhood" and defrayed expenses by teaching vocal music... At the close of the second year he took charge of a school in Dallas Co., AL.... joined the church... decided to join the ministry... with denominational aid he attended Howard College... then Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Greenville, SC. He was ordained, Pickens Co., AL Nov ... 23, 1862, age 29. For 15 months served as a chaplain and private CSA. Chaplain in Newnan GA, there married....
In 1870 he should be in Cuthbert, GA., late 1871 to Atlanta. 1880.... brings up his daughter and son....
