Shared note

The story in the family is: "When Penn York came to Abel & Elizabeth to ask for Emma, they considered her too young to be a parent. They consented to the marriage on condition that if a baby came soon, the child would belong to the grandparents. When Fannie was born, Elizabeth came with basket and took the baby home and raised her." The baby appears in Abel's household with the name Daniel on some census records. She never appears in the York household on census records. P.L. York had Civil war service. They were Prim. Bapt. |
