Beyond our Elusive William Daniel

In 1850 he was living with his grandfather Theophilus in Butler County, AL and was 8 years of age, born AL. He was listed as Hawkins. (James Daniel, 1850 census, Butler County, AL, beat #3, information from Ancestry.com)
Co H., 59th Al Inf. CEMcD, p 100.1; Enlisted Mar 13, 1862 at Greenville. Dark hair and complexion; dark eyes; 6 ft 3/4 inches tall. Released at Point Lookout, MD on June 10, 1865 by GO No. 109 AGO when he took the Oath of Allegiance. He is probably the John shown on p. 76, with wife Malisa and daughter Fanny (as shown here). See note under Sarah Catherine Thomas.

To the honorable H. W. Watson, Judge of the Court of Probate in forsaid County. The undersigned would most respectfully represent unto your Honor that on the 19th day of Feb 1858 one Zachariah Daniel was appointed of this person and Estate of your petitioner and gave Bond as such and took charge of the Estate of the undersigned and whereas the Zachariah Daniel departed this life on or about the 25th day of March 1865 without making final settlement of his guardianship as aforesaid and he would further show unto your Honor that on the 10th day of January 1866 one Mary M. Daniel was appointed and qualified as the Administratrix of the Estate of the said Zackariah Daniel, Deceased and the said Mary M. Daniel has since her said appointment intermarried with Elisha James Daniel.
Petitioner would further show that the said Mary M. Daniel nor her said Husband, Elisha Daniel, has made any settlement of the guardianship of the said Zackariah Daniel of the Estate of your petitioner. The premises considered he would most pray your Honor to issue such notices as required commanding them to make final settlement of said guardianship forthright or in default he moves your Honor state an account against them as Administrators as aforesaid and as in duty bound he will ever pray.
