"George started to work in a shoe repair shop in Tyler in 1921 and learned the
boot making trade. In 1930 he bought a shop in Lamesa and in 1933 a larger
shop in Midland. Among the many people that wore boots George made are names
you will recognize such as Gene Autry and Bill Elliot. In 1960 he opened
Friday's Boot Shop in Canton and operated it for many years."
