Resident of Kerens Since Town's Beginning Is Dead at 79

KERENS, Texas, Jan. 17 - R. H. Daniel, 79, a native of this community and a resident of Kerens since the town was named, died at his home Monday. His parents came here in 1853 from Alabama and of the family two sisters remain. Daniel engaged in the mercantile business at the town's beginning and was in business here more than fifty years. He was active in church and Masonic circles. He is survived by one son, R. S. Daniel of Corsicana, and three daughters, Misses Carrie and Erin Daniel of Kerens and Miss Mary Elizabeth Daniel of Wharton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
