Information on their children was found in a family Bible and a slip of paper in it that was in the possession of Miss Etta Woolley in Chilton, Texas before her death.

There is a newspaper article in a Dawson, Georgia newspaper which is said to contain information refering to the death of James Powell on 22 Nov 1877, and it says he was buried in Sardis Cemetery, Terrell County, Georgia. (Kathleen Rheman) More research needed to find this article.

There was a legal notice from Terrell County, Georgia in a newspaper which said that James W. Powell had applied for exemption of personalty and setting apart and valuation of his homestead. It was to be heard at 10 AM on Friday, 1 Jan 1869. It was signed by T. M. Jones, Ordinary. (Kathleen Rheman)
