He had artistic tendencies like his father.
I may have miscopied his birth record. I have written his name as Roy Filyam Stuckey (instead of Filyan which was his grandfather's name to the best of our knowledge - I have assumed that was the correct name for that reason. However, I have learned from a descendant that his name was probably Filyaw). His delayed birth records are found in the Limestone County birth records, Vol. 2, p. 109. The records contain the following:
Roy Filyam (or Filyan? or Filyaw) Stuckey, Mexia, Texas, male, b. April 1, 1881. Father: Rockwell H. Stuckey, 26 years old, born Petersburg, Indiana, architect. Mother: Emma Thomas Harris, Mexia, Texas, age at time of birth, 19 years, born Mooringsport , La., housewife. He was born at 4 P. M. The signature of the Physician or other is Mrs. R. H. Stuckey. It says there were 10 children born to mother, and 8 living children. The affidavit was signed 2 day of Oct., 1940 in Hardeman County. It was signed Oct. 5, 1940 in Limestone County.

Roy F. Stuckey Dies at Vernon
VERNON, July 28 (Special) -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Chillicothe Church of Christ for Roy F. Stuckey, Chillicothe building contractor who died in a Vernon hospital Thursday morning.
Stuckey, 74, was the son of the late R. H. Stuckey, prominent architect. Together they built the Vernon city hall, old Central Christian Church, on Wilbarger Street, many of the courthouses in surrounding counties, the Methodist Church and Baptist Church at Chillicothe, and many of the homes and buildings in Vernon and surrounding towns.
Born in Mexia April 1, 1881, Stucked [sic] came to Chillicothe in 1898. He was married to Lena Rawlins in Bridgeport Feb. 23, 1918. Stuckey was a Mason and a member of the Chillicothe Church of Christ.
Officiating at the services will be Joe Barnett, minister of the Chillicothe Church of Christ. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery under direction of Henderson Funeral Home.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. D. Estes of Vernon and Mrs. Gene Willmon of Fort Worth; four brothers, Taylor of Corpus Christi, Fred of Little Rock, Ark., or. H. Jr. of Dallas and J. K. of Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lewis of Odessa, Mary Stuckey of Chillicothe and Mrs. Leah Barnett of Beaumont; and four grandchildren, John Thomas Estes and Billy Clay Estes of Vernon, Mrs. Homer Lee Huddleston of Wichita Falls and James D. Estes of Odessa, and one great-grandchild.
