He was living with his sister Lucy and her second husband in Chicago (see record for James Adell, husband of Lucy Kirtkowski).

His obituary said he was found dead on a Sunday morning near his home. He had been a resident of rural Dunbar for 20 years. He was 56 years old. The cause of death was attributed to a heart attack. He was born in Maltby, PA 9 May 1900. He was survived by a sister, Lucy Adell, of Dunbar, a niece, and two nephews. Funeral services were on a Wednesday afternoon at the Dunbar Town Hall. Rev. Leland Rubesh officiated. He was a retired Coast Guardsman and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at La Porte, Indiana. He was a bachelor.
