He was shot in WWI (Jeri Bawden, e-mail, 10 Jan 2004, 11:31 PM). In his World War I draft registration he was Joseph Arestade Alessandro, aged 22, living at 801 South Seventh St., Waco, Texas. He was born December 16, 1894 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a natural born city. He was a plater and polisher, employed by himself. He had no one dependant on him for his support. He was single, white, and had no military experience. He claimed his mother as a reason for exemption. He was short, medium build, with grey eyes and brown hair. He was not bald or disabled. It was filed June 5, 1917. Texas State Death Certificate: He was Joseph A. Alessandro, residing at 801 S. 7th St., Waco, TX. He was single, born 16 Dec 1894 in Louisiana. He was a photographer by trade. He died 12 Oct 1936 at 8:15 AM at Providence Sanitarium in Waco, Texas. He died on 12 October 1936 after an illness of 6-8 months. He had surgery on the day of his death. He was suffering from an abcess of the right lung with a spontaneous rupture into the pleural cavity. There were some more medical terms here which are hard to read. He wsa buried 13 Oct 1936 in Holy Cross Cemetery.
