Shared note | Could he be the Giaccomo, carp. employed at the T. H. Foley Lumber Company and boarding with the Nicolo Alessandro family who was listed in the 1904-1905 Pueblo, Colorado City Directory? A Gioachino was on the 1900 Iowa census where it appears that his brother Victor was listed.
He died at the ice plant. He was buried in an unmarked grave in the Bruce Daniel family plot.
Texas State Death Certificate:
He was Jack Alessandro, residing at 807 S. 7th St., Waco, Texas. The place of death was the Geyser Ice Company Garage, Waco, McLennan, Texas. He was a white male, single, born 20 Dec 1886 in Italy. He was an auto mechanic. His parents were Nick M. Alessandro, born in Italy, and Anna Alessandro, also born in Italy. Joseph Alessandro was the informant. He died 2 May 1929 at 5 PM. The cause of death was (unreadable word) automobile accident. The contributory cause was that he cranked a truck while it was in gear and was pinned to the wall. He was buried 3 May 1929 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.
Census:
1900; Census Place: Le Claire, Scott, Iowa; Roll: T623 458; Page: 7A; Enumeration District: 142
There was a large group of men boarding together. One was named Victore Alessandro, and might have been his brother.
162/171, Alessandro, Gioachino, boarder, w, m, 1883, 17, s, Italy, Italy, 1892, 8, al appears to have been scratched out, serviceing
Could this have been Jack? Jack is not with his parents in Louisiana at that time. Jack would have been a bit young to have been employed in this manner, but it would be possible, and ages might have been altered. More research needed.
Man Crushed to Death By Truck Against Wall
Waco, Texas, May 2. --- Jack Alessandro, 42, was instantly killed late Thursday afternoon when he was caught between a truck and a brick wall of the Geyser Ice Company barn. It is thought that the truck was in gear when Alessandro cranked it. When he was pinioned against the wall the handle of the crank crushed him.
Alessandro had been living in Waco for the last twenty-two years. He was employed at the ice plant.
Surviving him are five brothers and one sister.
