Military
He enlisted for a period of 3 years. He was a barber by trade.
Shared note
He appears to be on a list of people arriving in New York from the Cristobal, Canal Zone on the S. S. Colon on 15 Jun 1912. He was 30 years of age, single, and his trade was steam eng. Military: On 9 Nov 1906 in San Antonio, Texas he enlisted the U. S. Army. He was 24 years and 3 months of age. His occupation was listed as barber. He had brown eyes, dark hair, and a dark complexion. He was born in San Antonio, Texas. NOTE: There was an Oscar Halamuda listed in the infantry serving in the Philippines in the 1900 census. This also appears to be him. Death Certificate: He was Oscar G. Halamuda, born 2 Aug 1882 in San Antonio, died 3 Mar 1936 in La Feria, Cameron, Texas. His father was Anton Halamuda born in San Antonio, and his mother was Sophia Grier, also born in San Antonio. He was a barber. There was no cause of death listed. Amos Halamuda was the informant. There is another death certificate for him which does give the cause of death. It says he died of a basal fracture of the scull [sic] with cerebral hemhorrage [sic] as a contributory cause. Death was due to an accident on 2 Mar 1936. It also states that he was a barber in the barber shop business, and that he had last worked at that job in 1930. Census: 1900, Candon, Ilocos Sur, Luzon, Philippine Islands, Company E, Thirty Third USA, Infantry, Enum. Dist.0186, Sheet # 10A, GSU Film # 1241840, Image # 00867 (Caudow Field Staff Detach 33rd Infantry) Halamuda, Oscar, private, San Antonio, Texas, his residence is hard to read but it begins Cor Mittiman and (? maybe something like Bemontane), w, m, Aug 1881, 18, s, San Antonio, Poland (Ger), TX NOTE: He was listed with his parents on the same census, and it said he was born Aug 1881. (See census record for his father Anton.) Nevertheless, this appears to be the same person. He may have claimed to be a year older than he was in order to enlist. It is interesting that he is also shown as enlisted in 1906.
