He was on a passenger list of the S. S. Nubian which sailed from Liverpool 5 Jul 1913 and landed in New Orleans, LA. His name was M. Maurice Adam with Leon Emile inserted above the given name, using a carat placed between the M. and Maurice. He was 20 years 6 months of age. He was a student. His nationality was English, and his last permanent residence was London, England. His final destination was Baton Rouge, LA. He was previously in New Orleans in 1912. He was six feet tall. He was born in Madagascar, Maritius. On 17 Jul 1918 he arrived in New York aboard the Morro Castle which had departed from Havana, Cuba. He was Leon Emile Adam, aged 25, single, sugar engineer, a citizen of Great Britain. His last permanent address was Havana, Cuba. His friend was D. A. Walsh, Cuba Cane Corp., Havana, Cuba. New York was his final destination. He had previously lived in the United Sates from 1913 to 1916. The 1913 date was written above the typed date of 1916, and Dec. was also written above the 1916 date. It is unclear, however, from the writing, if the December refers to 1913 or 1916. He was going to join a friend named T. V. K. Swift at the Yale Club, New York. He intended to return from the place he had come from, and planned on remaining in the United States for 4 months. He was 5 ft. 6 in., dark complexion, black hair, and brown eyes. His place of birth was Maritius Island, Mascarenas. He was on a passenger list for passengers aboard the S. S. Excelsior sailing from Havana, Cuba, 12 Jul 1919. He was Leon E, M, Adam (Should those be his initials separated by commas?) aged 26, m, married, subject of Great Britain, French race. Last permanent residence was Havana, Cuba. Hotel Plaza, Havana, Cuba is listed as the complete name and address of friend or nearest relative in country from whence he came. When asked if he ever lived in the U. S. he said 1918 in N, O. (Note: commas seem to take the place of initials in this record.) He was going to join his wife Zulika Adam in Mexia, Texas. The length of stay was indef., but 2 mos. was written above that. He was in good health. He was 5 ft. 11 in. He had dark hair and complexion and black eyes. He had no marks of identification. He was born in Mauritus, Curspia. On 8 Feb 1924, his wife Zuleika is mentioned in the The Mexia Daily News as about to leave to go to Paris, France to visit the family of her deceased husband. It said that friends would recall that she had buried him in South America. World War I Draft Registration:
