She was living with her parents Walter and Viola Vollmring in Hays County, Texas. Walter and Viola were both aged 32, and were married 13 years. The number of children born to Viola is hard to read, 5 were living. Walter and Viola were born in Texas, but their parents were all born in Germany. Walter was a farmer, and he owned their farm free of mortgage. The children included Etta (9), Elmer (dau., aged 7), Ima (4), Ella (2), and Fredman (3/12). The children were all born in Texas.

In 1920 she was Oma, aged 13, living with her parents Walter and Vauda Vollmring, both aged 42. Her father was a farmer, and everyone in the family was born in Texas, as were their parents. Siblings included Etta (19), Alma (17), Ella (12), Ford (10), and twins Ray and Roy, aged 8.
