She came to Limestone County, Texas with her family in 1885. (Robert Wells, e-mail dated Feb. 5, 2001.) John R. Corley, Sr., brother of Daniel J. Corley, handled her estate. On 27 May 1931 an Application to Probate Will was filed. The will was filed the same day. Notices were issued on 28 May 1931. On June 9, 1931 the will was admitted to probate upon testimony of John H. Gafford & J. A. Boyd, two of the subscribing witnesses. On 9 June 1931 Nod Hollingsworth, John H. Sweatt & Tom L. Cox were appointed appraisers, John R. Corley was appointed executor without bond, proof of will was filed, and the oath of executor was filed. On June 11, 1931 the inventory, appraisement and list of claims was filed and approved. Last Will & Testament of Mrs. Mary Ellen Daniel No. 1071, State of Texas, Limestone County. I, Mrs. Mary Ellen Daniel, widow of L. Daniel, deceased, of Mexia, Texas do hereby publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament hereby revoking any will that may have heretofore been made by me, to wit: 1. I desire that my Executors shall provide and furnish a suitable casket, dress and clothing, have my body embalmed, provide a motor hearse, and do such other things that may seem necessary for a suitable funeral and internment in the Mexia Cemetery at a cost of not exceeding four hundred dollars ($400.00). 2. I desire that my Executors shall purchase and place in position at my grave a suitable granite monument at a cost not to exceed one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) after the items have been paid in full and all other just debts paid in full, then: 3. I give and bequeath to my children share and share alike all my property real, personal and mixed, of which I may die, seized and possessed, or to which I may be entitled at the time of my death, whether in possession or expectance, to them and, their heirs forever. 4. I desire that my Executors shall make equitable division of my estate and if necessary to sell and convey any or all of my personal property or real estate to make an equal division. 5. Daniel, 83 year old pioneer, died at 6 a. m. Monday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday at the grave in Mexia cemetery, the Rev. J. E. Gore Baptist minister officiating. Pallbearers at her funeral will all be grandsons of the deceased. Mrs. Daniel has been a resident of Mexia and Limestone county for 60 years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Brazeal, Mrs. Ruth Bowden, Mrs. Ellen Gore, Mrs. May Shanks, 16 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
