Shared note

The Addison letter is our present "proof" of relationship. See CEMcD notes for census records on E. P. Daniel family (1840-1880). His age is 32 in 1850, 42 in 1860, and 52 in 1870 (with only Martha A., 26 and Darcus 23 at home). 1880, 63, GA SC GA, with the Hartins. Consider Butler Co., Marriages, Book 3-357: "E. P. to H. E. Pipins, 20 Mar 1867 (cere by N. R. Daniel, JP.) A possible second marriage? but if so, where is she just 3 years later in the 1870 census? (Ages of children from census's) From Edom's location on the 1840 census, Butler Co, AL, it appears that he was living Northwesterly, perhaps 3 or 4 miles from Honoraville, near a branch of "Three-Runs" creek. Some of his neighbors were Daniel Clausey, Angus Brown, Francis Fickling, Jr., Thomas Daniel, Francis Daniel, Moses Gatlin as well as Sims, Stringer's & Thorntons.

On the 1850 Butler Co census, it appears that he is still in the same general neighborhood, but now we have Henry Terry, Thomas Daniel, Edom Daniel, and William Pollard all in a line, by Family #'s 437, 438, 439 & 440.

In 1860 Edom has moved to Lowndes Co and is living in the neighborhood of the Mothersheads, Davises, Nichols, Kellys, Beasleys, Bodifords and Glass. This is in or near the area of New Ebenezer Church, the Cauthon Cemetery and where the Thomas Franklin Daniel & Elvira's home was. The location is about 1/2 way between Honoraville and Highland Home.

In 1880, Edom is in the HH of his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah C & Robert H. Hartin. He is listed as "father" & "works at Grist Mill" age 63.(GA, SC, GA) Same community as in 1860. This is in Crenshaw Ca, AL since 1866. Since Robt. H. Hartin & family were still in Crenshaw Co. on the 1900 census, but minus Edom, that raises a distinct possibility that Edom may have died before 1900 and just might be buried in the Cauthon Cemetery where his brother Thomas F. Daniel is buried. GO LOOK SOME MORE.

Hines: "I was reflecting one day in that my grandfather and my great grandfather had "Franklin" as their middle names. Obviously, this had to be a family name as it is proven that Thomas' wife was named Nancy Elizabeth Daniel, since their first born daughter was named Nancy Elizabeth Daniel Terry. About that time the lightening bolt struck me in that we know that Edom P. was Thomas' and Nancy's first born son...what do you want to bet he was Edom Pate Daniel?"
