Obituary: Charles Floyd Daniel Sr.

Charles Floyd Daniel Sr., 88 formerly of Searcy, Arkansas, passed away in Nashville after a lengthy battle with dementia on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019.

Mr. Daniel was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a proud graduate of Auburn University and served his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

He devoted his life to serving Jesus and his church, family, the many foster children they cared for in their home, the Harding University family and the work of the Children's Home. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his wisdom, humor and the joyful attention he lavished on each grandchild and great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by parents, John Tyson Daniel Sr. and Ethel Hart Daniel; brothers, J.T. Daniel and Gerald Lee Daniel; beloved wife of 62 years, Juanita Daniel; and grandson, Michael Daniel.

He's survived by son, Dan (Donna) Daniel of Franklin; daughter, Nita (Tony) Woodruff of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, John Daniel of Dallas; grandchildren, Bonnie Daniel (Marshall) Rabil of Franklin, Virginia, Beau (Whitney) Daniel of Nashville, Becky Daniel of Franklin, Brian Daniel of Nashville, Anthony (Melissa) Woodruff of Scottsdale, Daniel (Jordan) Woodruff of Scottsdale, Jonathan (Christina) Woodruff of Knoxville and Susanna Daniel of Nashville; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Collierville, TN: Robert Edwin Daniel age 81 passed away February 20, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital -Germantown.

Mr. Daniel was born in Montgomery, AL and moved to Henderson in 1945, the son of the late Samuel Ellison and Kattie Duncan Daniel. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1950 and attended Freed-Hardeman College studying pre-pharmacy and received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1954 during the Korean War. He married Joy Cherry in 1951 and they lived in several places while Mr. Daniel served in the Air Force. After the service they moved to Memphis where he finished his degree and began his career with Walgreen Pharmacy where he worked for 35 years. They had made their home in Collierville since 1998. He was a member of the Germantown Church of Christ.

Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife of 61 years Joy Cherry Daniel and two sons, Craig Daniel and wife Pam of Omaha, NE and Cary Daniel and wife Angela of Collierville and a daughter, Connie McLain and husband David of Houston, TX. He has a brother Sam Daniel and wife Sylvia of Memphis and a sister Ruth Daniel McCallum of Florence, AL. He has five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Roy Daniel.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with David Sain and Cary Daniel officiating and burial will follow in Cabo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the AGAPE Adoption Agency in Memphis.

Gerald Lee Daniel, 80, passed away peacefully at home in Navarre, FL, after a short, courageous battle with cancer on Monday, March 11, 2013.

He was born on December 12, 1932, in Tuskegee, Alabama, and lived in Tuskegee, Alabama, Auburn, Alabama, and Navarre, Florida. He was the owner of Daniel's Clothing from 1972 to 1995.

He is preceded in death by his parents John Tyson Daniel, Sr. and Ethel Hart Daniel, and a brother John Tyson Daniel, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Janelle Dyson Daniel; two daughters Renee Daniel Culverhouse (Charles E.) of Southside, Alabama, and Leigh Daniel Brown (Charles D.) of Navarre, Florida; two sons Gerald Lee Daniel, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, and Thomas Dyson Daniel (Laura W.) of Auburn, Alabama; four grandchildren Danielle C. Coburn, S. Lee Daniel, Paul R. Daniel and Chris H. Daniel; four great-grandchildren; and one brother C. Floyd Daniel of Searcy, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He led an active life and enjoyed running, walking and biking. He was a running back for Auburn University in 1951.

Visitation will be held at Corbitt's Funeral Home, Tuskegee, Alabama, on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. with graveside services at Tuskegee Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.

Funeral services for Mary Sue Voltz, 76, of Pelham will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. Rev. Matt Peek will officiate and interment will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Mrs. Voltz passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Mitchell County Hospital. Born February 28, 1938 in Clanton, Alabama she was the daughter of the late James Hershel Daniel and Mary Lee Spinks. She was married to Charles W. Voltz who survives. She was a Homemaker and member of Dawson Road Church of Christ in Albany and a member of the Pelham Civitan Club. She is survived by her husband, Charles Voltz of Pelham; a son, David Charles Voltz and Brandi of Bon Aire, GA; son James Wesley Voltz and Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Jean Aker of Albany, GA; two brothers, Bobby Daniel of St. Charles, MO and Lee Daniel of Sulphur Springs, TX and a son-in-law, Tommy Palmer of Pelham. Others survivors include grandchildren, Wesley and Kristy Palmer of Pelham, Beth Palmer of Pelham; Hayleigh Marks, one Great Grandchild Olivia Palmer of Pelham. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Dian Palmer, two brothers, James H. Daniel II, William P. Daniel, a sister, Martha Jones and her parents James H. and Mary Lee Daniel. Pallbearers will be David Voltz, James Voltz, Wesley Palmer, Tommy Palmer, Lt. Col (Ret) Tom Fluker, Jr. and Fent Nash. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Pelham Civitan Club. Memorial services for Lee Avery Daniel, age 64, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs; with Chuck King officiating, and Stacy Cody and Jason Stanley assisting. The visitation will be held one hour prior to service, at the church.

Coach Daniel passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015. He was born on February 15, 1951, the son of James Hershel and Mary Lee (Spinks) Daniel, in Albany, GA. Mr. Daniel earned his Masters at Arkansas State University and was a coach in the Sulphur Springs Independent School District for almost 20 years. He finished up his coaching career at Canton ISD. He was a member of League Street Church of Christ, and was a supporter of Doulos and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He is survived by his daughter, Summer Wright, of Cooper; two sons, Slade Daniel, and wife Kendra; and Spenser Daniel, both of Sulphur Springs; sister, Jean Aker; brother, Bobby Daniel; and eight grandchildren; Lawyer Wright, Lott Wright, London Wright, Linkon Ford, Ryker Daniel, Hank Daniel, Bentley Daniel and Layton Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Daniel and William P. Daniel; and two sisters, Sue Boltz and Martha Jones.

Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
