His daughter Zora's obituary says she was teh daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rogers. He grew up in the Saville Community of Crenshaw Co. AL (Mary Adams). We do not know which of Henry Rogers' brothers first moved to TX nor when, but it was probably soon after the Civil War. John & some of the Stoughs came to TX by train, stopping first at Ennis in Ellis Co. This group probably included John Wm. Stough. According to the 1860 Butler Co, AL census, John A. Rogers was born in AL. He was also a Mason. (GET THESE RECORDS!) He served in Co. B, 57th AL Infantry, under Captain Mayberry until the war ended in 1865. He was stationed in Troy, Mobile, Pollard, and Montgomery, AL. He was on Johnson's retreat through Georgia and fought at Resacca, GA and several other places in the following campaign. (Mary Adams) His son Wilburn remembers travelling with his mother to visit John at Troy, AL. He is buried left of the front gate and under a large Oak tree. There is a civil war iron marker/granite marker with Job 19:25 written on it. (it is a Masonic marker).
