There is a notice from the Hayneville Examiner, dated 3 Apr 1877 which recounts a visit he made during that week. It said he was a native of the county, and that he was a brother of the late John W. McQueen. It states that 26 years before he and his father along with Col. Cottrell went to Florida. In 1879 he was living in Thomas County, Georgia. In 1867 he served in the legislature there.
