He came to the United States through New York. He went to Wisconsin first, then Michigan, then Illinois. (Jean "Jeff" Harris) From a conversation with Judy Nichols, they may have come from the Warsaw and Kracow areas. She also quoted her John Hajec and Sophie Hajec as saying that the family had lived in a part of Poland taken over by Russia. They fled for religious reasons. I assume that this was Peter Hajec and his family and not the Wnuk family. In March of 1933 (apparently on 31 Mar), farm property owned by him, his wife, and his son John was sold in a foreclosure sale. Principle and interest due on the loan was $932.24. It was published in the Ludington Daily News, Ludington, Michigan. The property was located in Grant township.
