In W. GARLAND BUTTON's article on PETER WHITE MILLER, SR. in the Enloe, Texas book he says:
REBECCA COMPTON MILLER was typical of that which happened to thousands of widows of Confederate soldiers killed in that conflict. Northern carpetbaggers and southern turncoats confiscated her property for non-payment of taxes in U. S. currency and she was left destitute. Her children were faithful to take care of her and their siblings. Four of them migrated to Delta County, Texas (WRIGHT 1876, PETER 1878, ALFRED 1879 and ?.). Her faithful sons brought their beloved mother from Rhea County, Tennessee, so that they could better care for her. She departed this life in the home her son, WRIGHT S. MILLER and is buried in the Lake Creek Cemetery.
