Divorce	The divorce petition was found in favor of the plantiff, E. E. Sorrels, and Joshua was made to pay the expenses of the case. Of the five children, the four oldest were given to their father, and the youngest was given to the mother. No mention was made of the unborn child.

He left a will in Coryell County. He left his estate to his three children Emma, Maggie, and David. In 1884 he paid taxes on 125 acres of land, abstract 1334, J. P. Sorrels survey. On his death certificate, he was Josh P. Sorrels, male, white, divorced, born 28 Feb 1850 in Arkansas. He was a farmer. Matthew Sorrels and Becky Tollett were his parents. He was 77 years, 4 months, 19 days old at the time of death. The cause of death was cancer lasting 20 years (or it might be 30 years...there is a curved mark underneath the first number that might make it 30 or it might be a stray mark in the scan). There was surgery prior to death, and it looks like it was about 5 years previous to his death. In his will, he left his entire estate to his children Emma, Maggie, and David. He said he had in mind other children (unnamed in the will), but he only wanted to leave his estate to those three children.
