WEDDING BELLS
Married in the Gloaming of the Quiet Sunday Eve.
Sunday evening, July 16, at 8 o'clock Miss Edna Mayo and Mr. Garfield Daniel were united in marriage. The ceremony occurred at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. Frank Mayo, at West, Texas, in the presence of a few intimate friends and relatives. Rev T. W. White, pastor of he First Baptist church at West, in his own happy style, pronounced the words that linked the lives of the happy pair.
The attendants were Miss Mattie Cobb and Mr. Frank Merenda, both of West.
Congratulations were extended and the guests were then shown to the dining room, where a delicious repast was enjoyed by all.
As said above, the bride is a daughter of Mr. Frank Mayo, for twenty years a respected and worthy farmer of West, and having grown to young womanhood in that community, she is loved and admired by a large circle of friends not alone for her many admirable qualities, but for her true womanly worth.
The groom is well known in this city, having resided here nearly all his life and for nearly ten years a trusted employe [sic] of the Tribune. He is held in high esteem by the management of this paper and indeed by all who know him. The young couple start their married life under favorable auspices and if the hopes of their many friends are realized their life will be long, prosperous and happy.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel are at home at the residence of Mrs. Bettie Daniel, mother of the groom, in North Waco. (apparently from the Waco Tribune, clipping unlabeled, copy sent by Becky Herring, e-mail, 10 Jan 2004, 7:39 PM)

ANSWERS TO THE
LAST CALL OF "30"
-----------------------
Garfield Daniel, 64, died at his home, 1801 Summer avenue, at 6:45 p. m., Saturday, May 19, 1945. Funeral services were held at Compton's chapel at 3 p. m., Monday, with Rev. Len Dalton of Hamilton officiating, burial in Rosemound cemetery. Compton in charge.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Strong of Waco and Mrs. Lula Scales of Ballanger.
Mr. Daniel was born in Erath county, Texas, in July, 1880, and had lived in Waco for the past 51 years. He was a former employe of the Waco News-Tribune and Times-Herald and the Waco Record. Fifty years ago this month deceased began his first work on the Waco Weekly Tribune and help get out the first issue of that paper June 1, 1895.
Pallbearers: J. R. Cripps, Earl Davis, Marshal Healer, Walter Bell, C. E. James and Cecil Jumper.
Rev. Len Dalton, primitive Baptist minister, addressed his remarks particularly to the bereaved relatives, declaring that the body of deceased was dead, but that the soul still lives. The minister's words were sacred and tender and impresed all present.
The beautiful flowers, the silent emblem of love and respect, were in profusion.
Garfield Daniel had been a member of the Typographical union for more than 40 years. He loved the union ties and did his best to always promote progress among the membership. He was a good printer, a capable floor man and had put together thousands of pages of advertising during his 50 years as a printer.
He loved his friends and his home environment. His health failed several years ago and he gave up active work and enjoyed the retirement fund of the Printers Union, a fund he had helped build up to millions of dollars, which is used for aged or disabled members.
Garfield Daniel had a surgical operation about one years ago and never fully recovered. He resided with a sister, Mrs. Strong, who gave him patient, tender care all during his last illness.
