NOTE: Susannah appears to be a bit old to be the wife of James, but there is a marriage record for a James Hale who married Sus. Hale by Thomas Falkerson, J.P., 14 Oct 1840 in Washington County, TN. Some people have her listed as his spouse. That would make him perhaps around 18 at the time of the marriage, and she would have been 34. That seems like an unusual age difference. Of course, it was pioneer days, and there might not have been very many marriageable young men and women available. That might be the source of his son Benjamin's middle name, Hale, but what did the middle initial "H" stand for in the name of James H. Cade?
