He and his wife became guardians for Betty Goode and her sister Mary after their parents died. Their brother Thomas Goode was reared by the Oliver family.

LINDEN | Maurice Elisha Conway, age 76, of 305 Wolfe Street, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Services will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at O' Bryant Chapel Funeral Home. Minister T. J. Pedigo and Minister Lee Register officiating. Burial will follow in Linden Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. prior to service at the chapel. O' Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include wife, Ruth Conway; daughters, Betty Hannah; Mary (Dean) Estes; Joann (Bennie) Thompson; Evelyn (James) Hicks; sons, Mark (Lisa) Conway; Malcolm Conway; brothers, Lomax Conway; Thomas Conway; Haurice Conway; sisters, Mildred Durden; Frances Gammons; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Conway helped establish the Linden Church of Christ, where he served as an elder and minister. He worked for many years with Alabama Power Company and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Pallbearers will be Russell Hannah, Robert Hannah, Marshall McDowel, Jason Hicks, Jeremy Edge and Joel Nobles.

In lieu of flowers make donations to the Bible Department at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
