At the time when surveyors were laying out the plans for the railroad depot in Kerens, Texas, they were about to put it across the street from the final location. At that time, Daniel told the surveyor he would give him his choice of any Stetson hat in the Daniel Dry Good's Store if he would locate the depot across the street. He took him up on the offer, and the depot was erected where Daniel wanted it to be located. This appears to be our T. S. Daniel Both Lelia and Theophilus Smith Daniel are buried at Restland Cemetery. Theophilus was a large land owner, farmer, merchant and banker.
