BEMcC, 7 Dec 1980 continued: "... had 3 children that I know of. I went to school with all of them. His oldest son, J. T. and I worked for the same firm here in Montgomery for about 12 years. Offie was a school teacher for many years, then later a bookkeeper. He was as fine a man as I've ever known. On his WW I Draft registration he was Jacob T. Smith, Rt. #4, Luverne, AL, born 14 Dec 1894, in Crenshaw County, AL. His current occupation was listed as Farm Land, and he was employed by J. W. Smith near Rutledge, AL. He was single with no dependants. He had had no military experience, and he claimed no exemptions. He was of medium height and build with grey eyes and brown hair. He was not bald. It was dated 5 Jun 1917 in Crenshaw County, AL.
